Aquaguard Slatted Automatic Covers
What is a slatted cover? A slatted automatic cover does exactly what it says on the tin! The cover itself is made of lots of long slats that stretch the entire wdith of the pool and are all connected together to form a rigid and strong cover. The cover, like normal solar covers goes on a roller, which is included in the kits and automatically winds and unwinds by a remote or keyswitch instead of manually rolling the cover off and then having to pull it back on. Being stronger than the standard solar bubble covers it is safer.
An increasingly popular product, now with 25% off ALL YEAR!
Our slatted covers are manufactured by a superb European company who offer a quality yet beautifully designed cover. They have been supplying Europe for many years with their product and have had huge success. There are many options to choose from but hopefully this guide will help you chose the right one. Our slatted cover does not need to fit into a track along the pool it simply gets guided onto the pool by the nature of the materials. it can be installed to existing pools as the Above Ground option means that no construction needs doing within the pool, so if your pool is already built – you don’t need to worry – it is a very simple installation. However for new builds we have a few more installation methods to choose from.
Improved safety- The AquaTop cover can bear the weight of a small pet, child or even an adult. One can acquire improved safety by fitting a rail just beneath the water level or by providing a ledge. The cover can only sink to the top of the rail or ledge.
Energy Saving - By covering a pool, evaporation and heat losses are limited to a minimum. For an indoor pool the dehumidification system does not have to run so much. The solar slats warm up the swimming pool by 4° to 8°c depending on the season and the geographical location! AquaTop cover contributes to keeping the swimming pool clean.
Slats The AquaTop slats are made of PVC with improved UV-resistance. They are enhanced by using a 20% thicker wall than the existing 3-chambre profile. The slats are available in different colours (blue, grey, beige, white, solar, transparent). The solar ones can warm up the pool water. They are transparent with a black layer underneath, and create thus a greenhouse effect.
Mechanism - All immerged mechanisms of AquaTop pool covers are constructed in stainless steel 316L. All top mount mechanisms are constructed in stainless steel 304L. Some parts of the EcoTop mechanism are made of anodized aluminium. All electronic components of the AquaTop pool cover are CE controlled. Furthermore they function on safety voltage of 24V DC.
Operation - You can operate the cover very easily and automatically with a keyswitch or remote control in order to open or close the cover to the programmed end positions. The AquaTop cover can bear the weight of a small pet, child or even an adult. AquaTop is in accordance with the French standards (NF P 90-308).
Installation Methods
There are various options to chose from for the AquaTop Cover, varying from Below Water Mount (In water) to Above Water Mount (Top Mount) Installations. Each method has been designed to provide you the most aesthetically pleasing design combined with safety, energy saving, practicality and cost effective however if you find you need something a little different we can pretty much do anything so just phone and speak to one of our technical sales people and we will discuss all the options. The first thing to decide is whether you would like an Above Water (Top Mount) or Below Water Mount installation; this is dependent on the type of pool and whether the pool is existing or not. Top Mount installations can be fit on existing or new pools as the roller is fitted onto the pool side/deck, whereas the Below Water Mounting installation will need to be built into the wall or floor of the pool (underwater). If you have decided on a Below Water Mounting then you then have a few choices of where the roller is installed, whether it be in the wall, floor, at the end of the pool in a pit, behind a panel, in a niche, behind steps etc, here are some examples:
Below Water Mount – A more aesthetically pleasing solution as the roller is hidden below the water whether in a pit at the end of the pool or in a niche in the wall or even in the pool floor:
Below Water mount in niche - The slats roll in a recess behind the pool. On top of the recess sits a wooden or plastic platform. The cover completely disapears under this platform. The most common installation as it suits most pools and the finish is superb. When installing in a recess behind the pool we can supply a reinforced aluminium beam so you can lay your coping stones on top so it really looks as if the cover is coming out of the wall and is completely disguised. Or should you wish this we can supply hardwood grates to sit on top of the aluminium beam so you can access the cover if needed.
Below Water Mount in Stair - The roller is mounted in a recess that is covered by a platform that lies under water. The platform combines in an aesthetic way with a stair or a beach in the pool. We provide a cover with a dedicated beam that allows the slats to come up to the surface through a small gap. The beam sustains a platform that the pool builder makes in natural stone, tiled panels or other materials.
Below Water Mount in Bottom - The cover is mounted under the floor, in a special compartment. The roller is covered by a panel. The panel can be rotated : the compartment opens before the slats come out to the surface. In most cases the panel is fixed and a small gap between the wall and the panels allows the slats to come out.
Below Water Mount in Floor - This type is suitable for overflow pools. The slats disappear in a compartment in the wall. It is possible to mount a separation wall before the roller in order to hide it.
Below Water Motor Options:Once you have decided on where you would like to site the roller you will then need to think about positioning of the motor for the roller. You can either have a separate pit or you can have an “In-roller Motor”, which is designed to be sited inside the roller tube itself. A good option for indoor pools where space and flooring is very important.
Above Water / Top Mount installation:
This is a very popular option for pools already constructed as you can simply site the roller on the deck side and not have to do any construction work to your pool walls. You will also have the ability to have a Solar Powered Motor for all you environmentally friendly people! We have two covers available in this method – The EcoTop and the AquaTop Top Mount, the difference is that the Eco Top is our budget range which is not available with solar slats, but is available with a solar powered motor. Whereas the AquaTop is available with a Hardwood bench providing you with a beaitiful feature at the end of the pool.
Slat Options:
Now you have chosen the location of the roller, the construction method and type, you can now select which type of slats best suit you. We offer a normal plain coloured slat or we can provide you with Solar Slats which will use the suns energy to help heat your pool, (outdoor pools only).
