Electric Heaters can offer a highly effective method of heating your swimming pool, when combined with the Economy 7 supply tariff and solar pool covers.
The flow heater will operate at night (on E7) at the same time as the daily filtration period of about seven hours. The control circuits measure the temperature of the pool water and supplies just the right amount of heat to ensure that the pool is up to the desired temperature the next morning. To ensure maximum efficiency a solar cover should be used to minimise heat loss when the pool is not in use.
The flow heater itself consists of a number of immersion elements placed inside a heater vessel. Unlike other forms of heating which rely on heat transfer from an external source such as a boiler, there can be no drop in efficiency throughout its life due to scale formation.
Being simple, reliable, devices, flow heaters are straight forward to, install and offer overall running costs comparable with other heating methods. It is important that the correct size heater (measured in kW or kVA) is chosen, based upon the dimensions and location of the pool. Your electricity supplier should be asked to confirm that your supply has sufficient capacity.
The compact size, of an electric flow heater means that it can be conveniently sited alongside the filter pump and other equipment. Environmentally, the absence of refrigerants, machinery noise and fumes means that such a system offers a clean and efficient route to heating your pool.
